Anna Druchlińska lives in Amsterdam for three years, but she’s originally from Poland. She came first to the Netherlands with Erasmus programme to study, but fell in love and prolonged her stay.
“When I started to study and heard about Erasmus programme, I knew I wanna do it, I want to see how it is outside of my country,” explains Anna her motivation to go to live abroad. She moved to Amsterdam originally for six months, but she took a one year break from the studies to be together with her boyfriend. First, Anna was struggling to find work and an apartment. At one point she even had a one way ticket to Poland for the holidays, but just in the three weeks before going, it still worked out.
She now works as an accountant. “I haven’t seen any opportunities in the future for me in Poland, this is why I’m here and I think I have much bigger chances to do something with my life here than I would have in Poland,” describes Anna her motives and adds that she wouldn’t be able to live by herself in Poland with the salaries there.

“Poland will always be my home, but this is the country I chose to live in."
In the video, Anna talks about the feeling of being away from her family.
