Deyan Dimitrov comes from Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He currently works in the IT field and has been living abroad for almost 10 years.
After finishing high school, he was weighing options for continuing his studies and looking for a university in Europe to study in English. One option was to study in the UK, the other option was the Netherlands and he decided for the second one. “I thought that the education abroad will be better and I was curious how it will be to live abroad,” Deyan says. It wasn’t a very common decision on that time. For example from his class no one else went abroad. “How is it going to work without your friends, without your family, why would you put yourself into something like that?” remembers Deyan his friends’ reactions to his decision.
Deyan finished bachelor’s in the Netherlands and continued his master’s studies in London. “Coming to London wasn’t too exciting for me, because I had been to London some times before that.” Making friends was very easy for him, because the environment was very international: “Our class was very international, out of 80 students we had probably 40 or 50 nationalities.”
One thing is sure for Deyan: “I will not go back to Bulgaria. I definitely want to stay in Western Europe.”
In the video, Deyan shares what he likes about London.
