Geerika Hein is from Viljandi, Estonia and now lives in London over 8 years. The decision was very spontaneous when she just thought “Why not?”. She was very inspired by one woman who just asked her why didn’t she travel and make her dreams come true. At this time it wasn’t very common to move abroad for Estonians.“My mom didn’t really believe that I would go,” she recalls.
The start was pretty tough. She worked at first in a pub and shared different apartments with different people. Some days were especially tough when she thought about going back home. “I was pretty depressed at first,” she says, “but I thought that it would be just embarrassing to go back home and there will come something better.” She now works as a receptionist, but dreams about starting her own start-up company.
“I also want to have a home in Estonia as well, because my family is there and I don’t want to cut it off.”
Geerika describes the feeling of being alone in a new home country.
