Inta Lankovska felt completely burnt out from her university studies in Latvia and took a year off. “And I thought what’s the point of spending it in Latvia, I’ll go to London,” laughs Inta. She spent the year in London and went back to Latvia to finish her studies. While doing that, she was working at the airport and met her future husband.
“After a year I moved back to London because we needed a common country to live in. He’s from Poland and I didn’t want to live in Poland and he didn’t want to live in Latvia, so London seemed to me a good common ground.” She moved to London in 2008.
She still feels connected to her home country as it is just a two hour flight away. But she says she definitely would miss the city of London as for opportunities and culture. “Not everywhere in the world it’s possible to see all the live music, theatre, amazing productions. And I love that about London.”
Inta feels that living in London has changed her into more tolerable and happier person. “People here are politer, even if it’s like a superficial thing and they don’t mean it from the heart, but at least they don’t go around with a negative frown all the time.”
“I feel like nowadays a person is not so attached to one location.”
Inta talks about her feelings regarding living abroad.
